Standard Mode (Start Signal Required)
Overview
Section titled “Overview”In Standard Mode, the driver requires a manual start signal to enable the laser output, providing an additional layer of safety control.
Start Conditions
Section titled “Start Conditions”The driver will start when ALL of the following conditions are met:
- ✅ Start signal is SET (manual enable)
- ✅ Modulation voltage higher than threshold voltage (>0.2-0.3V)
- ✅ Interlock loop closed
- ✅ Temperature below adjusted threshold (if NTC connected)
Startup Sequence
Section titled “Startup Sequence”Power On ↓5s Power-up Delay ↓Wait for Start Signal ↓Start Signal SET? ↓Check Other Conditions ↓All Conditions Met? ↓5s Additional Delay ↓Enable Laser OutputMonitored Parameters
Section titled “Monitored Parameters”The driver continuously monitors:
- Interlock loop - Must remain closed
- Temperature - Must remain below threshold
Failure Handling
Section titled “Failure Handling”Interlock Failure
Section titled “Interlock Failure”When interlock loop opens:
- ❌ Laser output disabled immediately
- 🔴 Interlock LED starts flashing
- Driver remains in failure state
Recovery Procedure:
- Close the interlock loop
- RESET the start signal (turn OFF)
- SET the start signal again (turn ON)
- Wait 5 seconds → laser enabled
Temperature Failure
Section titled “Temperature Failure”When temperature exceeds threshold:
- ❌ Laser output disabled immediately
- 🔴 TEMP LED starts flashing
- Driver remains in failure state
Recovery Procedure:
- Wait for temperature to drop below hysteresis threshold
- RESET the start signal (turn OFF)
- SET the start signal again (turn ON)
- Wait 5 seconds → laser enabled
LED Behavior During Failures
Section titled “LED Behavior During Failures”While Start Signal is SET and Failure Present:
Section titled “While Start Signal is SET and Failure Present:”- Interlock LED or TEMP LED continues flashing
- Fault persists until start signal is reset
After Start Signal is RESET:
Section titled “After Start Signal is RESET:”- If fault is still present → LED keeps flashing
- If fault is rectified → LED stops flashing
Power Interruption Protection
Section titled “Power Interruption Protection”If an input voltage interruption or unwanted shutdown occurs while the start signal is SET:
- ❌ Driver will NOT start automatically
- Driver stays in power-up delay mode
- 🔴 All three LEDs (Laser, Interlock, Temp) flash simultaneously
Recovery:
- RESET the start signal
- SET the start signal again
- Normal operation resumes
Modulation Behavior
Section titled “Modulation Behavior”When modulation voltage is below threshold (0.2-0.3V):
- ✅ Laser LED is ON (driver enabled)
- 📴 Laser does NOT emit
- Laser will emit when modulation voltage rises above threshold
Activating Standard Mode
Section titled “Activating Standard Mode”Activation Instructions
Section titled “Activation Instructions”- Disconnect or switch off the power supply
- Remove the Mode jumper
- As long as the jumper is removed, the driver will start in this mode
- Connect or switch on the power supply

Section titled “Advantages of Standard Mode”- ✅ Manual control - Explicit start/stop control
- ✅ Enhanced safety - Prevents automatic restart
- ✅ Deliberate operation - Requires operator intervention
- ✅ Fault acknowledgment - Operator must reset after failures
Use Cases
Section titled “Use Cases”Standard Mode is ideal for:
- Laboratory and research applications
- Manual operation scenarios
- Applications requiring operator control
- Environments where automatic restart is undesirable
- Development and testing
