Standard Mode (Start Signal Required)

In Standard Mode, the driver requires a manual start signal to enable the laser output, providing an additional layer of safety control.

The driver will start when ALL of the following conditions are met:

  1. ✅ Start signal is SET (manual enable)
  2. ✅ Modulation voltage higher than threshold voltage (>0.2-0.3V)
  3. ✅ Interlock loop closed
  4. ✅ Temperature below adjusted threshold (if NTC connected)

The driver continuously monitors:

  1. Interlock loop - Must remain closed
  2. Temperature - Must remain below threshold

When interlock loop opens:

  • ❌ Laser output disabled immediately
  • 🔴 Interlock LED starts flashing
  • Driver remains in failure state

Recovery Procedure:

  1. Close the interlock loop
  2. RESET the start signal (turn OFF)
  3. SET the start signal again (turn ON)
  4. Wait 5 seconds → laser enabled

When temperature exceeds threshold:

  • ❌ Laser output disabled immediately
  • 🔴 TEMP LED starts flashing
  • Driver remains in failure state

Recovery Procedure:

  1. Wait for temperature to drop below hysteresis threshold
  2. RESET the start signal (turn OFF)
  3. SET the start signal again (turn ON)
  4. Wait 5 seconds → laser enabled

While Start Signal is SET and Failure Present:

Section titled “While Start Signal is SET and Failure Present:”
  • Interlock LED or TEMP LED continues flashing
  • Fault persists until start signal is reset
  • If fault is still present → LED keeps flashing
  • If fault is rectified → LED stops flashing

If an input voltage interruption or unwanted shutdown occurs while the start signal is SET:

  • ❌ Driver will NOT start automatically
  • Driver stays in power-up delay mode
  • 🔴 All three LEDs (Laser, Interlock, Temp) flash simultaneously

Recovery:

  1. RESET the start signal
  2. SET the start signal again
  3. Normal operation resumes

When modulation voltage is below threshold (0.2-0.3V):

  • ✅ Laser LED is ON (driver enabled)
  • 📴 Laser does NOT emit
  • Laser will emit when modulation voltage rises above threshold
  1. Disconnect or switch off the power supply
  2. Remove the Mode jumper
  3. As long as the jumper is removed, the driver will start in this mode
  4. Connect or switch on the power supply
Power On → 5s Delay → Wait for Start
Start Signal SET

  • Manual control - Explicit start/stop control
  • Enhanced safety - Prevents automatic restart
  • Deliberate operation - Requires operator intervention
  • Fault acknowledgment - Operator must reset after failures

Standard Mode is ideal for:

  • Laboratory and research applications
  • Manual operation scenarios
  • Applications requiring operator control
  • Environments where automatic restart is undesirable
  • Development and testing
